Students of the Kawananakoa Band Program are required to wear a uniform to performances. Students are typically fitted right after the school year begins so that orders can be placed well in advance of the first performances in the Fall/Winter.
Uniform sets cost anywhere between $20-$90. When parents and students arrive the day of the fitting, please allot enough time to try on the uniform, ask questions and check out with one of our Booster parents. All forms of payment are accepted (Cash, Check and Credit Card).
Uniforms consist of:
- Aloha Shirt (Rental, must be returned at the end of the year)
- KMS Band Shirt (Black, must be worn under the Aloha Shirt)
- Dress Pants/Slacks (Black. Dress slacks may be purchased on own, but must be all black. No leggings or dark denim allowed.)
- Long Black Socks (Purchased on own)
- Dress Shoes (Black. Shoes may be purchased on own, but must be all black from the laces to the soles.)
For all performances:
Boys - have hair neatly combed. Long bangs must be combed back and not fall into face.
Girls - those with long hair are required to have their hair pulled back neatly into a ponytail or bun. Any with long bangs will be asked to have their hair pulled back so that they do not fall in their face while playing.
Uniform checks will be conducted at performances by our Uniform Committee and Student Leadership. Those not in proper uniform dress will need to see Mr. Lum and may be sent home to change or may not participate.
For any questions regarding the uniform or dress code, please feel free to talk to Mr. Lum or our Uniforms Chairperson.
